Let the Celebration Begin!
Yesterday was an amazing day! It was the beginning of Libby’s new cured life.
We had a birthday party with party hats, decorations and cake to celebrate this new life! All of the nurses on the floor sang happy birthday, brought balloons and a card signed by the whole staff.
We are so impressed with the nurses on this floor. They are professional, interesting, sweet, fun and of course, they are in love with Libby and what she’s done with the place!
Our room rocks 😊 It was a happy day!
My Superhero Sister Now Has More Superhero Blood!
Before, during and after the celebration and for months, I have been consumed with thoughts of this precious lady that gave so much for Libby. When I say, “so much,” I mean it was a giant bag of bone marrow – just what we needed! It took from 11:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. to infuse all of the beautiful bone marrow. What a gift!
When the cells arrived, we prayed around the bag and Libby drew a symbolic visualization of what we think she looks like – an angel holding a tiny bird. Of course, she has no face yet because we can’t meet her for a year. We have been gathering cards and letters from our family and close friends to send to her including a Libby ring with “Every Cell Is Well” on the inside band and some chocolates shaped like perfect cells. We pray that she is resting well today and not in too much pain. We have been praying non-stop for her.
Superstars Rarely Complain!
Over the last week, I have been completely in awe of my sister. I haven’t heard one single complaint no matter how many rounds of chemo, antibacterial infusions, antibiotic infusions, liver protection infusions, kidney protection infusions – infusions, infusions, infusions – prods – pokes etc, etc, etc.
During all of this she is exercising everyday by walking a mile and getting on the bike at the gym and riding at least 45 minutes. She is making me do it with her – I think she is trying to get me into shape during this process.
Today we are going outside of the 9th floor for a short walk about. Libby is in great spirits which I’m sure doesn’t surprise anyone. The next several weeks are supposed to be the most difficult so please continue sending those prayers and positive affirmations – they are working!! “Every Cell Is Well!”
This is so inspirational. Thank you for keeping us current on how Libby and all of you are doing. I am always amazed at Libby’s energy level and spirit. Cancer is no exception. Lib you’re my hero.
